Enlightening and Hopeful

Cheryl does a great job at helping one understand the stages of dementia and Alzheimer's as well as relating what research has been done, and is ongoing, on this health issue. The anecdotal comments throughout the book, from caregivers of Alzheimer's patients, past and present, personalized the information. Cheryl has a real talent for translating the scientific nutrition information that abounds on eating healthy for our brain into meaningful eating guidelines that are easy to implement in one's diet. Recipes add a special touch.

What We Eat Does Affect Our Brain Health

This is an easy-to-read, very practical book about the connection between the foods we eat and the development of Alzheimer's and dementia. It is full of many suggestions about healthy food purchases and meal planning ideas. It has a great selection of healthy recipes, with detailed prep instructions and colored pictures of the food prepared. I highly recommend this book!

Useful information on such a relevant topic

I am actually a dietitian at the hospital (Rush) where much of the research in this book comes from, but I work in a different specialty and admittedly don't know a lot about nutrition for brain health. The author does a great job summarizing the research and turning it into actionable dietary changes. I especially liked the clear list of foods proven to benefit the brain, and strategies for incorporating them daily. Considering the prevalence of Alzheimer's and dementia at this point, I think this is a relevant read for everyone.
